The EHF European Winner 2021 SC Magdeburg became Club World Champion for the first time in its club history and, after winning the EHF Champions League in 2002, achieved the second highest title for club teams. In a sensationally superior final against the reigning Champions League winner FC Barcelona (five-time club world champion) from the 20th minute onwards , the SCM defeated the record champion in the European premier class with 33:28 (19:16) goals in view of the significantly better team performance. The SC Magdeburg is the third German club after the THW Kiel (2011) and the Füchsen Berlin ( 2015 , 2016 ) to become club world champions. The SCM can start again as the defending champion at the next Club World Cup. The men's IHF Super Globe will take place from October 5th to 9th, 2021 in King Abdullah Sports City in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia, to determine who is currently the best handball club in the world. FC Barcelona came into the match better than SC Magdeburg in one of the two teams, which was very good, fast-paced and attack-oriented. Barca had match access for 20 minutes. Then SCM goalkeeper Green also found the game and subsequently held a few balls, whereby SC Magdeburg turned the match with a 4-0 run to 15:13. The German final showed his great qualities in attack against the reigning Champions League winner. The SCM deservedly went into The best player of the match so far, Weber, had to leave the record shortly before the end with a knee injury. Throwing efficiency 73:59 percent. Penalty minutes: 4: 4. Top scorers: Weber 5, Magnusson 3, Mertens 3, Pettersson 2 - Mem 5, Gomez 5, Makuc 2, Fabregas 2. For the most part, SC Magdeburg designed the second half confidently and playfully "took" the increasingly offensive Barca cover "apart". Goalkeeper Green was able to maintain his good form. Only at 26:24 did FC Barcelona "sniff" a little morning air. But a break from Wiegert ensured a 3-0 run and the first "five-goal lead". At 33:25 it almost looked like a big win for SC Magdeburg. In the end, the EHF European League winner 2021 defeated the EHF Champions League winner and became Club World Champion for the first time thanks to the better performance. Outstanding goalkeeping performances on both sides also shaped the final. SC Magdeburg vs Al Ahly Semi finals IHF Men's Super Globe 2022 ملخص مباراة الأهلي و ماجديبورج الألماني في نصف نهائي كأس ألعالم للأندية Al-Ahly’s Long Trip To Make Africa Proud At The 2022 IHF Men’s Super Globe There are few teams worldwide that can get the amount of fan support of Al-Ahly SC – and that was on display also at the 2022 IHF Men’s Super Globe, when over 2,000 fans travelled to Dammam, Saudi Arabia, to support the Egyptian powerhouse. And they had plenty of reasons to celebrate, as Al-Ahly became the first African side to make the semi-finals at the Super Globe since Tunisian team Étoile du Sahel made it to the top four in 2013. Therefore, a nine-year wait was finally stopped, with the 29:28 win against SL Benfica on Thursday evening in the Dammam Sports Hall sending the fans and the Ahly players into raptures. “When we talk about this win, we must talk about the fans also. I think we could not have done it without them. They are a huge part of this success – I think they deserve the credit for being here, and they helped us a lot. It meant like 50% of us qualifying for the semi-finals,” says Ahmed Khairy, Al-Ahly’s centre back, who has been nothing short of superb in this edition of the IHF Men’s Super Globe. Khairy has featured in the Egypt men’s national team at the 2017 and 2019 IHF Men’s World Championships and played in Romania in the past two seasons at giants CSA Steaua Bucuresti and Dinamo Bucuresti, also featuring in the EHF Champions League Men. However, when Al-Ahly came calling, Khairy, now in his prime at 28 years old, could not say no to his former team, where he also featured between 2018 and 2020. It proved the right decision, as he enhanced his game and delivered superb performances over the last months. With 19 assists in the first two matches at the 2022 IHF Men’s Super Globe – two wins for Al-Ahly, 36:30 against Saudi side Mudhar and 29:28 against SL Benfica – he is by far the best provider in the competition, with 10 assists more than the second-placed player, Magdeburg’s Philipp Weber. Khairy is also the only player in the competition to be named the ‘hummel Player of the Match’ twice, as he has been integral to Ahly’s success in the Super Globe, despite two other players, Omar Khaled Hassan and Ahmed Mesilhy being the team’s best scorers, with 13 goals each. “It is something unbelievable, a superb performance, to play against a European side, which has won the European League and win against them. We believed from start to finish, we played very well, and this win is just well-deserved,” says Khairy. But what makes Al-Ahly so good here, what were the things that made them tick, and what is the key for their success? Khairy thinks it is not necessarily about Ahly’s performances but rather an uptick in Egyptian handball as a whole. Indeed, Egypt have been nothing short of spectacular in the past years, securing their best-ever finish at the Olympic Games in history – a fourth-place at Tokyo 2020. Their seventh-place finish at the 2021 IHF Men’s World Championship came after a match that will enter the history books, where the eventual champions, Denmark, eliminated the Pharaohs after penalties in the quarter-finals. “Since David Davis was appointed the head coach of the Egypt national team in 2018, we have been getting better and better. After Davis, in 2019, Roberto Garcia Parrondo took over, and the common denominator between the two is that they both represent the Spanish school of handball. “It made us better; it helped us improve as players, but also as a team, which I think is the most important thing. We learnt to be a team, and with many players from Al-Ahly coming to the national team, it also helped the club to improve and function as a team,” says Khairy. A Spanish coach was also responsible for bringing Al-Ahly to the Super Globe, but Dani Gordo was replaced by David Davis shortly before the start of the competition, who will assume the position from next week onwards. It is no coincidence that Benfica’s coach Chema Rodriguez found it difficult to break Al-Ahly in the last game of Group B at the 2022 IHF Men’s Super Globe, as many of the players knew exactly what to expect. “He is also Spanish, so we knew what his principles are, because we know Spanish handball, and we watched Benfica closely, prepared for the game, and we snatched this very, very important win. I am very proud of what we achieved,” adds Khairy. Al-Ahly’s best performance in the IHF Men’s Super Globe was a second place in 2007, but back then, the tournament format was a round-robin one, with every team playing against each other in a group. Since 2010, when the knockout format was introduced, only four African teams made it to the semi-final: Egyptian rivals Zamalek in three editions and Tunisian side Étoile du Sahel. None made it to the final, though, as all four semi-finals ended with losses. Can the tide be turned in Dammam in this edition of the Super Globe?

Al Ahly vs Kielce 3 4 Place IHF Men's Super Globe 2022 Al-Ahly SC vs Lomza Industria Kielce 26:35 Al Ahly vs Kielce piłka ręczna 3 - 4 miejsce IHF Men's Super Globe 2022 For the second time in as many editions played in the IHF Men’s Super Globe, Lomza Industria Kielce finished third, earning the bronze medal, after a dominating display in the second half against Al-Ahly SC, with the Polish side taking a 36:25 win. It was the physical aspect and superior depth that decided the winner, but also Andreas Wolff’s amazing saves – 11 for a 44% saving efficiency, including four penalties – that tilted the balance into Kielce’s side. However, the superior experience was clear, despite the Polish side missing left wing Dylan Nahi, who got injured in the match against Barca. Al-Ahly SC finished fourth in this tournament and also secured one huge win for them in the preliminary round against SL Benfica, which helped them seal a semi-final berth. It is not Ahly’s best finish in the competition, which was the second place in 2007, but it sure feels like a success. Al-Ahly SC stay close The pace has definitely picked up in the first minutes of the second half, with the two teams trading blows, in a very, very fast match. In the first 15 minutes of this part of the game, the two sides combined for 14 goals, but there were plenty of misses and mistakes, which duly took something from both attacks. And were it not for Kielce’s goalkeeper, Andreas Wolff, who saved two penalties, the Polish champions might have been in an even tougher spot. But right now, they are hanging by the skin of their teeth, boasting a 23:20 lead with 15 minutes to go. Wolff has now saved three penalties from the seven he faced, taking his overall tally in the competition to seven, which is quite an amazing achievement. Kielce will need more of his antics, especially as Al-Ahly SC are starting to fade a bit, making mistake after mistake. Half-time: Al-Ahly SC vs Lomza Industria Kielce 13:16 Kielce might have thought they would have an easier game, especially as their physical level is better than Ahly, but that was not the case until now. After a very strong start in attack, the Polish powerhouse has faltered, and coach Talant Dujshebaev has been fuming on the sidelines about the large number of missed chances from his side. Mohamed Ahmed, Ahly’s goalkeeper, has saved seven shots, frustrating Kielce at times, who had eight players scoring at least one goal. But Al-Ahly faltered yesterday in the second half against Magdeburg. This time around, they have been using left back Raul Nantes more, one of the players who featured the least amount of time in this competition, a clear signal that they want fresher legs in the second half. Their attack has been well-rounded, but they still made four turnovers, a small amount seeing the challenge. At the break, Kielce, who also finished third in the 2016 IHF Men’s Super Globe, are leading by only three goals, 16:13. Ahly keeping tabs on Kielce After they totally disappeared in attack yesterday against Barca, Kielce have started this game brightly by scoring five goals in the first five minutes, as right back Nedim Remili entered into the groove and scored three times – impossible to stop. Their fast breaks have also been impressive, as Kielce are poised to prove that yesterday’s loss against Barca was just an accident. But how are Al-Ahly SC coping? Well, this is probably the toughest opponent they faced, with the best credentials. And they fared just well, keeping close to Kielce, and staying true to their same tactics, which worked against SL Benfica in the preliminary round. Ahly continuously found ways to score, as Omar Khaled Hassan and Mostafa Khalil each scored twice. With 15 minutes gone, Kielce are leading 8:7, with their attacking prowess missing a bit after they started turning the ball over. Yet they were kept alive by some saves from Andreas Wolff, who also stopped a penalty.
